#158) The Academy Awards

#158) The Academy Awards

The Oscars will be broadcast on TV tonight; ever since I was very young, I’ve enjoyed this telecast yearly. This year, they are planning on only showing the major categories acceptance speeches live, and edited tapes of the lesser ones. They are having three female comedians host the event. This isn’t kink-related, but I thought I’d post my guesses for what I think will win, and what I would prefer to win. See how accurate I am. What are your picks?

For Best Supporting Actor, I hope Troy Kotsur in “CODA” will win. He’s a dark horse against two actors from “The Power of the Dog” and one from “Belfast.” It’s a toss-up.

For Best Supporting Actress, I think and hope that Ariana DeBose will win for “West Side Story.”

Similarly, I think Will Smith will win Best Actor for “King Richard,” he’s won all the awards (Director’s Guild, Critics Choice, the British awards called the BAMFA).

Olivia Coleman has won, whether favored or not, in past years. She may win for Best Actress in “The Lost Daughter,” but has competition. She gets my vote. We’ll see…

For Best Picture, I’d like to see “CODA” win. I also loved “Belfast”! We’ll see if “The Power of the Dog” sweeps this (and other categories) tonight.

And Best Director has LOTS of great competition; it’s a horse race. I’d LOVE to see Kenneth Branagh win for “Belfast.”

I’ll be staying up late to see who wins. I hope it lives up to expectations!

  1. I think the featured photo is of Paul Newman being congratulated by wife, Joann Woodward. I’ll also be watching to see the ladies’ fashion choices tonight, and may comment on that tomorrow.
